Sonic the Hedgehog - Westside Island is a palette and layout hack of Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Mega Drive. All levels have new layouts, new names and new palettes and the bosses have been made harder. In addition, the level select has been edited and you can now only start on Act 1 of each level from here. If you want to play Sonic 1 but with a new change of pace, this could be what you are looking for.

Sonic 2 Long Version (which is released alongside Sonic 2 & Knuckles Long Version) is a more complete version of Sonic 2, which makes it somewhat similar to Sonic 2 Delta. This hack features four levels originally scrapped during Sonic 2's development. No levels have been changed, only added. This hack was written in hex, without the aid of any special hacking programs, because the creator uses a Mac, and no hacking tools had been released on that platform at the time of development.

Sonic 2 XL is a hack of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis by Captain Bozo and Ranger. Rings are replaced with onion rings, and Sonic becomes fatter after eating them.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Pink Edition is a character swap hack of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, with Amy Rose and Cream the Rabbit replacing Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails respectively. Amy Rose's sprites are designed after her modern look. Amy Rose with classic-style sprites is available to play in the Amy Rose in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 hack.

The game was modified by Sonic Retro Member E-122-Psi, with additional programming and coding by other members including MarkeyJester, MainMemory, FraGag, Selbi, and Hayate. Most programming unique from Amy In Sonic 2 such as Cream the Rabbit's gameplay was implemented by Flamewing.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2Z is a palette and level layout hack of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis by Mystic. The objective is to make a harder version of Sonic 2 for experts who really haven't had a challenge in Sonic for years. In order to do this, Mystic made some exceedingly challenging levels, which are definitely going to make even a master Sonic player beg for mercy in a few sections.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (ソニック・ザ・ヘッジホッグ3 Sonikku za Hejjihoggu Surī?) is a 1994 platform video game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series for the Sega Genesis. It was developed in the United States by members of Sonic Team working at Sega Technical Institute, and was published by Sega, debuting worldwide in the first half of 1994. The game is a sequel to the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the same system and follows on directly from the end of the game, in which Sonic defeated his enemy, Dr. Robotnik; crash-landing on a floating island, Sonic encounters new character Knuckles the Echidna, and must once more retrieve the Chaos Emeralds while also working to stop Dr. Robotnik from relaunching his ship, the Death Egg.

The game is closely tied to its direct sequel Sonic & Knuckles, as the two games were originally developed as a single game until time constraints and cartridge costs forced them to be split into two interlocking parts.

Sonic 3 Complete is a hack of Sonic 3 & Knuckles which aims to provide a much improved variant of the original game, with many new options and features, without straying from the original levels or gameplay. The inclusion of separate modes for Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles and Blue Sphere also make this a close cousin of the PC compilation Sonic & Knuckles Collection, albeit designed for the original 16-bit hardware.

This hack based on Sonic 1, This game plays like Sonic 1 but with the speed of Sonic 2 with CD abilities. Like CD it promotes exploration, collecting stones will reward you and also give you good futures automatically. New special stages in the future. Sonic: The One Ring is a hack of the original Sonic the Hedgehog game for the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis, created by Mercury. Its defining (and titular) feature is that in each Act, all rings but one have been removed, and Sonic cannot complete the Act without this One Ring in his possession. Thus, in each Act, Sonic must search for the One Ring that will afford him the opportunity to progress. Several alterations have been made to the game, to somewhat balance the lack of rings, and allow backtracking during the search.

Sonic And The Mystic Gems (previously known as Sonic 1 Harder Levels) is a hack made by Eduardo Knuckles and his team Harder Project of Sonic the Hedgehogon the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis.
