Rampart
Rampart is an arcade game, released in 1990 by Atari Games, that combines the shoot 'em up and puzzle genres. It is widely-ported, with versions for most contemporary systems.
Rambo III
Rambo III is a series of video games based on the film of the same name. Like in the film, their main plots center on former Vietnam-era Green Beret John Rambo being called back to duty one last time to rescue his former commander, Colonel Sam Trautman, who was captured during a covert operation mission in Soviet Union-controlled Afghanistan. The console versions are developed and published by Sega, the PC DOS version was developed by Ocean and published by Taito and Ocean developed and published the rest (Atari ST, Amiga, Spectrum, C64, Amstrad). Taito also released an arcade game based on the film.
Rainbow Islands: The Story of Bubble Bobble 2
Rainbow Islands (レインボーアイランド?) is a 1987 arcade game developed and published by Taito. The game is subtitled "The Story of Bubble Bobble 2" and is the sequel to Taito's hit game Bubble Bobble from the previous year. It is the second of four arcade games in the Bubble Bobble series (followed by Bubble Symphony and Bubble Memories, but itself has two direct sequels: Parasol Stars and Bubble Bobble Part 2). The game was ported for numerous home computers and game consoles.
The main characters are Bubblun and Bobblun, the protagonists of Bubble Bobble (known as "Bub and Bob" in the western releases). However, in this game they appear in their human forms as "Bubby" and "Bobby", as opposed to the "bubble dragons" of the first game (following on from the first game's true ending). Also unlike the first game, players must now "alternate" (i.e., take turns), with player one as Bubby (green shirt), and player 2 as Bobby (blue shirt) (as with the first game).
Radical Rex
Radical Rex is a 1 or 2-player platforming video game released in 1994 for North America, Europe and Australia. It was published by Activision and developed by Australian game studio Beam Software for the Super Nintendo, Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, and Sega CD. The game stars Radical Rex, a skateboarding, fire-breathing Tyrannosaurus rex. During production, the game was originally titled: "Baby T-Rex".
The Sega CD version of the game has a CD Redbook Audio quality soundtrack composed by Marshall Parker.

Quackshot Starring Donald Duck
QuackShot: Starring Donald Duck, known in Japan as I Love Donald Duck: Guruzia Ou no Hihou (アイ ラブ ドナルドダック グルジア王の秘宝?), is a 1991 platforming video game developed by Disney Interactive Studios and published by Sega for the Sega Genesis. The game was released in Europe in 1991, in North America on December 19, 1991 and in Japan on December 20, 1991. It stars Donald Duck and his three nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, as treasure-hunters. Much of the game is patterned after the first three Indiana Jones films.
QuackShot is part of a series of games that Sega of Japan produced for the Sega Genesis based on Walt Disney cartoon characters. Its 8-bit counterpart is Lucky Dime Caper, released only for the Sega Master System and Sega Game Gear. The game also was on a cartridge entitled "Disney Collection" bundled with Castle of Illusion.[2] QuackShot was converted for the Sega Saturn and released together with Castle of Illusion only in Japan as part of the Sega Ages series in 1998. It is a straight conversion of the game with no substantial changes.
QuackShot was released to mostly positive reviews from video game journalists. The game was universally lauded for its graphics, with magazines like Sega Pro describing them as "some of the best graphics around." The game was also praised for its music and puzzles, as well as their clever use in the game. However, QuackShot was criticized for its controls, being described by IGN as "float-y" and making certain segments of the game unnecessarily difficult. The game was also criticized for its lack of difficulty overall as well as its lack of speech samples, which several other Genesis games of the time had.
Punisher
The Punisher (パニッシャー) is a 1993 beat 'em up arcade game developed and released by Capcom. It stars the Marvel Comics' anti-hero and ruthless vigilante the Punisher and co-stars S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Nick Fury as the second player's character as they embark on a mission to kill the crime lord the Kingpin and bring down his organization.
The Punisher gained a significant popularity and was acclaimed by critics, being often regarded as one of the best titles in the beat 'em genre and one of the best video game comic book adaptations of all time. A Sega Genesis (Mega Drive) port was developed by Sculptured Software and published by Capcom USA and Marvel Entertainment in 1994, but is widely regarded as inferior to the original arcade version.
Pulseman
Pulseman (Japanese: パルスマン Hepburn: Parusuman?) is an action platform game developed by Game Freak and published by Sega for the Sega Mega Drive in 1994. The game was released in cartridge format only in Japan, with the North American version being released via the Sega Channel as an "exclusive".
Puggsy
Puggsy is a 1993 platform/puzzle game, designed by Traveller's Tales and released by Psygnosis on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and Sega Mega CD/Sega CD consoles, and the Amiga computer. Puggsy is the name of the title character, an orange space hopper-like alien who landed his spaceship on The Planet, intending to return home until his spaceship was stolen by the raccoon natives of the planet.
Probotector
Contra: Hard Corps, released in Japan as Contra: The Hard Corps (魂斗羅 ザ・ハードコア?)[1] and in Europe and Australia as Probotector, is a side-scrolling run and gun-style shoot-'em-up video game released by Konami for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis in 1994. It is part of the Contra series and serves as a follow-up to Contra III: The Alien Wars. The plot takes place several years after the events of that game.
Contra: Hard Corps follows the same gameplay as its predecessors. New features include branching story paths and multiple endings.
Prince of Persia
Prince of Persia is a video game franchise created by Jordan Mechner, originally published by Brøderbund, then the Learning Company, and currently Ubisoft. The franchise is built around a series of action-adventure games focused on various incarnations of the eponymous prince. The first game in the series was designed by Mechner after the success of his previous game with Brøderbund, Karateka. The title was successful enough to spawn two sequels: the series has been rebooted twice since its acquisition by Ubisoft, and has been successful enough to warrant a film adaptation, penned in part by Mechner and released by Walt Disney Pictures in 2010.
Even though Mechner has been involved with the series in varying capacities throughout its history, the games themselves have been developed and published by several different companies. The first two games in the series, Prince of Persia and Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame, were developed by Brøderbund for the Apple II. Prince of Persia 3D, the first to use 3D computer graphics, was developed by Red Orb Entertainment and published by The Learning Company on PC, and developed by Avalanche Software and published by Mattel Interactive on Sega Dreamcast. French-based video game company Ubisoft began developing and publishing the series in 2003 with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and so far have been the most prolific of any company in bringing out new games in the series.
Primal Rage
Primal Rage is a versus fighting game developed and released by Atari Games to arcades in 1994. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic version of Earth called "Urth". Players control one of seven large beasts that battle each other to determine the fate of the planet. Matches feature many of the conventions of fighting games from the era, including special moves and gory finishing maneuvers.
Various ports were released for home consoles and personal computers. Efforts to perfectly emulate the arcade original have as yet been unsuccessful, due to an unusual copy protection method developers used.
Toys, comics, a novel (Primal Rage: The Avatars by John Vornholt) and other merchandise tie-ins were also produced.
Predator 2
Predator 2 is a 1990 American science fiction horror film written by Jim and John Thomas, and also directed by Stephen Hopkins, and starring Danny Glover and Kevin Peter Hall. The film is a sequel to the 1987's Predator, with Kevin Peter Hall again playing the role of the Predator. Despite receiving negative reviews, the film gained a moderate return at the box office.
Powerball
Powerball is an American lottery game sold by 45 lotteries as a shared jackpot game. It is coordinated by the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), a non-profit organization formed by an agreement with various U.S. lotteries. Since the format change on January 15, 2012, Powerball's minimum advertised jackpot is $40 million (annuity) with a potential of nine-figure prizes. There is no maximum jackpot for the Powerball, it will rollover until all the numbers are matched. The biggest Powerball jackpot to date was $590,500,000 won in May 2013 by one winning ticket in Florida, making it the 3rd biggest ever lotto win of all time among all lotteries world wide. Its annuity option is paid in 30 graduated installments; winners may choose a cash payment instead. Powerball drawings are held on Wednesday and Saturday evenings at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. The game uses a 5/59 (white balls) + 1/35 (Powerballs) matrix from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $2, or, with the Power Play option, $3 (prior to January 15, 2012, games cost $1 each, or $2 with Power Play; the latter option was added in 2001). The official cutoff time for ticket sales is 10 p.m. Eastern Time; some lotteries discontinue sales at earlier times. The drawings usually are held at the Florida Lottery’s studio in Tallahassee.
On November 29, 2012, one day after the drawing for the largest Powerball jackpot, the California Lottery Commission voted to join Powerball. California joined the game on April 8, 2013.
On May 18, 2013, the largest jackpot in the game's history, and the largest prize ever on one ticket, approximately $590,500,000 (annuity), was won. On June 5, Florida Lottery officials announced the winner, Gloria C. MacKenzie, age 84, who purchased the "quick pick" ticket at a Publix supermarket in Zephyrhills, Florida. MacKenzie opted to take the cash option, which was approximately $370,800,000 before Federal withholding (Florida does not have a state income tax).
Pocahontas
Pocahontas (born Matoaka, known as Amonute, and later known as Rebecca Rolfe, c. 1595 – March 1617) was a Virginia Indian notable for her association with the colonial settlement at Jamestown, Virginia. Pocahontas was the daughter of Powhatan, the paramount chief of a network of tributary tribal nations in the Tsenacommacah, encompassing the Tidewater region of Virginia. In a well-known historical anecdote, she is said to have saved the life of an Indian captive, Englishman John Smith, in 1607 by placing her head upon his own when her father raised his war club to execute him.
Pocahontas was captured by the English during Anglo-Indian hostilities in 1613, and held for ransom. During her captivity, she converted to Christianity and took the name Rebecca. When the opportunity arose for her to return to her people, she chose to remain with the English. In April 1614, she married tobacco planter John Rolfe, and in January 1615, bore him a son, Thomas Rolfe. Pocahontas's marriage to Rolfe was the first recorded interracial marriage in North American history.
In 1616, the Rolfes traveled to London. Pocahontas was presented to English society as an example of the civilized "savage" in hopes of stimulating investment in the Jamestown settlement. She became something of a celebrity, was elegantly fêted, and attended a masque at Whitehall Palace. In 1617, the Rolfes set sail for Virginia, but Pocahontas died at Gravesend of unknown causes. She was buried in a church in Gravesend, but the exact location of her grave is unknown.
Numerous places, landmarks, and products in the United States have been named after Pocahontas. Her story has been romanticized over the years, and she is a subject of art, literature, and film. Her descendants through her son Thomas include members of the First Families of Virginia, First Ladies Edith Wilson and Nancy Reagan, and astronomer Percival Lowell.
Pitfall - The Mayan Adventure
Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure is a 1994 video game developed and published by Activision. A sequel to Activision's 1982 Pitfall! for the Atari 2600, the player controls Pitfall Harry, Jr., son of the protagonist of the original game, as he attempts to rescue his father from a Mayan jungle setting.
Activision developed the game in partnership with Redline Games. It was first released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Genesis and Sega CD in 1994, followed by releases for the Sega 32X, Atari Jaguar, and PC the following year. The PC release was the first commercial release for the recently debuted Windows 95 operating system. Publisher Majesco Entertainment ported the game for the Game Boy Advance in 2001; a downloadable version appeared on the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console in 2009.
An extra feature in all versions is the ability to play the original Pitfall! (the Atari 2600 version) after finding a secret doorway within the game. The Sega CD, 32X and Windows ports contained extra (and expanded) levels and other enhancements over the other versions.
The Windows port was based on the Sega 32X version, and was made using Kinesoft's Exodus game technology, which was later used to make the Windows port of Earthworm Jim: Special Edition.[1] It includes 256-colour art, in-game CD music and effects by SOUNDELUX Media Labs. SoftKey version includes America Online free trial software for Windows 3.1/95, Internet Explorer 3.02, Cyber Patrol demo for Windows 3.1/95.
On April 13, 2009, the Sega Mega Drive version of Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure was released on the Virtual Console in North America and later in the PAL regions on May 15, 2009 and in Japan on August 25, 2009. It was later delisted on December 26, 2013 in Japan and at the end of 2013 in North America and the PAL regions.
Phelios
Phelios (フェリオス, Feriosu?) is a 1988 vertical scrolling shooter released for the arcades in Japan by Namco. It runs on Namco System 2 hardware. A home version for the Mega Drive/Genesis was released in 1990. The game features a plot loosely based on Greek mythology. The player takes control of the knight Apollo, the god of the sun, who sets off on his pegasus to rescue his lover, Artemis, the goddess of the moon, from the dark lord Typhon. The game takes names and little else from Greek Mythology, where Apollo, god of the Sun, was actually Artemis's brother. The game shows us an Artemis that acts as an archetypical princess, but in Greek mythology, she was the goddess of the hunt, and took pride in never being with any man.
Phantom 2040
Phantom 2040 is a French-American animated science fiction television series loosely based on the comic strip hero The Phantom, created by Lee Falk. The central character of the series is said to be the 24th Phantom.
The show was developed for television by executive producer David J Corbett and executive story editors Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens. In addition to story-editing both seasons, the Reeves-Stevens devised the show's writers' bible, scripted the two-part pilot (Generation Unto Generation) and personally scripted most of the show's key episodes.
The unusual character designs were the distinctive work of Peter Chung, creator of Æon Flux.
The show debuted in 1994 to rave reviews, though it survived only 35 episodes before it was relegated to weekend repeats in 1996. Along with action sequences, stories focused on intelligent plotting and character development, winning the series praise for its subtle teaching of such values as individuality, freedom and the volatility of humanity.
Along with Andrea Romano's equally pioneering work on Batman: The Animated Series, Stuart M. Rosen's voice direction on Phantom 2040 had a lasting impact on animated adventure television. Romano and Rosen cast accomplished dramatic actors and introduced a new level of maturity and complexity to their show's vocal performances that set the standard for all TV animation that followed.
Phantom 2040's unique voice cast included Scott Valentine, Margot Kidder, Ron Perlman, Leah Remini, J.D. Hall, Alan Oppenheimer, Richard Lynch and Jeff Bennett - while Mark Hamill, Debbie Harry, Rob Paulsen and Paul Williams had recurring roles.
The show inspired a four-part tie-in comic book series illustrated by legendary Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko.
Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium
Phantasy Star IV (sometimes PS4), released in Japan as Phantasy Star: The End of the Millennium (ファンタシースター 千年紀の終りに?), is a role-playing video game released for the Mega Drive in Japan in 1993 and Europe and North America in 1995. It is the fourth and final game in the original Phantasy Star series, concluding the story of the Algol Star System. The game was also made available on the Wii Virtual Console in Japan on June 24, 2008, in the PAL regions on November 14, 2008, and in North America on December 22, 2008, for the price of 800 Wii Points.[1] Phantasy Star IV is also part of the Sega Genesis Collection on the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable and on Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Phantasy Star IV kept many of the gameplay elements of the previous game, including turn-based battles, overhead exploration, and magic spells. Phantasy Star IV met with mostly mixed reviews upon its release, but has been subject to very positive critical retrospectives.
Phantasy Star III - Generations of Doom
Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom, released in Japan as Toki no Keishōsha: Phantasy Star III (時の継承者 ファンタシースターIII?), is a traditional console role-playing game that was released for the Sega Mega Drive (Sega Genesis) in Japan in April 1990 and in western countries in 1991. It was also released in three different compilations known as The Phantasy Star Collection for the Sega Saturn and Game Boy Advance, and The Sega Genesis Collection for the PlayStation 2 and PSP, and later re-released on the Virtual Console. It was featured in Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Phantasy Star III is a sequel to the previous game in the series, Phantasy Star II, although the connections to other games in the Phantasy Star series are not immediately evident. Gameplay is similar to the games before it in the series, with combat still being turn-based and battles randomly occurring. Players must explore both overworld maps and dungeons in order to progress through the game.
Phantasy Star II
Phantasy Star II, released in Japan as Phantasy Star II: Kaerazaru Toki no Owari ni (ファンタシースターII 還らざる時の終わりに?), is a console role-playing video game developed by Sega AM7 for the Mega Drive/Genesis that was released in Japan in 1989 and Europe and North American in 1990. It was later ported to a variety of different platforms. Its remake, Phantasy Star Generation 2, was released for the PlayStation 2 in 2005.
It is the second installment in Sega's acclaimed Phantasy Star series and serves as a sequel to the original Phantasy Star for the Master System. Phantasy Star II is set 1,000 years after the events of its predecessor and follows the journey of a government agent named Rolf and his friends, who are on a mission to find out why the protector of the planet Mota, Mother Brain, has started malfunctioning.
Phantasy Star II was the first 16-bit role-playing game released in the west (it was released months before the original 8-bit Final Fantasy for the NES) and it was the first video game to use a 6 mega-bit cartridge. As a result Phantasy Star II was far bigger than any game before it and the title became the new benchmark for the genre. Many of the title's game play elements, such as its sci-fi setting, random battles and high difficulty level, were brought across from its predecessor, but Phantasy Star II innovated thanks to its sprawling environments, graphical improvements and its strong, character driven story.
Since its release Phantasy Star II has been the subject of universal acclaim from critics, fans and RPG enthusiasts alike. The game is generally viewed as ahead of its time, mainly thanks to its narrative and its dealings with serious subject matters, something that other console role-playing games never tackled until years later. The title is widely considered to be one of the greatest and most influential role-playing video games of all time.
