The idea of this game is that you and another friend of yours selects a character (one being Sonic and the other being Tails) and you both battle it out to try to gain as many hits on Eggman. The catch is that Eggman only gets destroyed when the timer runs down to 0 (unless it's a draw at that time, then, it will wait for another hit). The player with the most hits at the end of the timer, wins! You can also win if the other player dies before the timer runs out. Sonic Classic Heroes is a ROM hack for the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis that is the result of a collaboration between flamewing and ColinC10, combining their respective hacks Sonic 2 Heroes and Sonic 1 and 2. It therefore is a single ROM that offers the entire campaigns of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, either alone or together; and enables the player to play as many characters such as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. The hack is named due to the ability to control a team of characters, which is reminiscent of the more recent 3D game Sonic Heroes. The hack is built on Sonic 2's engine, which has been enhanced by both flamewing and ColinC10 to have new features. These include: multiple gameplay elements from Sonic 3 & Knuckles, such as element shields and character-specific abilities; the ability to save progress, scores, etc. to SRAM (something rarely implemented in Sonic 2, with the other notable example being Esrael's Sonic 2 Delta); various bug-fixes and improvements to the mechanics of the original games; and many more features, both implemented and planned.

Sonic Double Dash is a hack based on sonic 1 that greatly revamps the first zone into something that you'll hopefully consider fresh and fun. Technical changes are relativly minimal as the hack has a greater focus on creating new layouts and artwork. The levels are built with the new double dash in mind, a redesigned drop dash that's power can change the flow of how you play, epscially useful for speedrunners or those who just want to have a good time. Forget that last part as it makes this sound like a dating profile.

Sonic ERaZor is a hack of Sonic the Hedgehog (16-bit) created by Selbi. This hack is unlike many other hacks, featuring a heavy in-game story line, unique challenges, and never seen before gameplay mechanics. These elements are often somehow related to explosions, which is why this hack is sometimes called "What if Michael Bay directed Sonic 1". When first released back in early 2010, Selbi stated that this hack has no goal whatsoever and any ideas he came up with just went in. Today's releases have a lot more structure and thought out gameplay elements. The difficulty has been steadily decreased between the different versions, mostly due to some negative feedback regarding the first releases, although they all have an above average difficulty, and is therefore regarded by many as quite interesting and challenging, if not frustrating. A notable aspect about this hack is that it contains many cutscenes, chapter screens and story screens. The game's first scene after the title screen is entirely a cutscene.
