Sonic - Hyper X is a 2004 hack of Sonic the Hedgehog created by Skaarg. It was one of the first Sonic hacks that had all of its music changed. In addition, it also featured modified palettes and layouts. Skaarg had stated that he was going to continue to expand upon his hack, but it seems highly unlikely at this point.

Sonic: The Lost Land 2 is a hack of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis by Shadow Fire. The game is comprised of 11 levels, each filled with dangers you must overcome in order to stop the plans of the maniacal Dr. Eggman. Only palettes, some slight layout changes and various other small modifications have been made for the time being, since this hack is on hold for Sonic - The Lost Land.

A sonic hack based on Sonic 1 made by Ashuro Sonic & Ashuro was released during the Sonic Hacking Contest 2016, I presented the first version of this project: The 3.0 (which I later updated to Sonic Stuff Research Group as 3.1).I received a lot of good feedback and decided to continue this project, which seemed unfinished. Team Overload presents, Sonic 1 - Warped World! This hack has undergone a quite a lot of changes since last year, including brand new level layouts, a lot of new music, and some other really cool features that you'll see in game! This year's entry only has 3 playable levels so far, but after completing the demo, you will gain access to the level select, where you can see what is in store for future releases!Story:After the events of Sonic 3 and Knuckles, Sonic lands back on Mobius. But because of his extended use of Super Sonic, he has lost his abilities. The Tornado lands on an unknown area so Sonic goes and explores. He comes across a whole lot of badniks and thinks straight away that Eggman had crashed there. Eggman, who barely made it, set up shop in an abandoned factory and built "Robotic Empire". Sonic 1 Alt is a layout hack of Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Mega Drive by Ell678. It is notable for sporting barely any ASM edits, with the main focus being on the level layouts. Initial response to the new layouts was positive, though the altered palettes were less well received and so have been reverted for the next release.

Sonic 1 and 2 is a hack of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Genesis by ColinC10, submitted as his entry for the 2010 Sonic the Hedgehog Hacking Contest. In addition to all Zones usually featured in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, this hack first features all Zones from Sonic the Hedgehog (16-bit), which have been ported, resulting in a continuous game experience from Green Hill Zone to Death Egg Zone. Both games' different kinds of Special Stages are available in all regular acts, and they are accessed through their usual method (Giant Rings for Sonic 1's, star post checkpoints for Sonic 2's). The player must beat all special stages from each game, thus collecting 13 Chaos Emeralds, in order to obtain Super Sonic.
