Rampart is an arcade game, released in 1990 by Atari Games, that combines the shoot 'em up and puzzle genres. It is widely-ported, with versions for most contemporary systems.

Ranger X, released in Japan as Ex-Ranza (エクスランザー?), is a side scrolling run and gun shoot 'em up video game for the Sega Mega Drive. Developed by Gau Entertainment and published by Sega, the game was released in 1993.

Ray the Flying Squirrel in Sonic the Hedgehog is a fan-made ROM of the game Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, featuring the character Ray the Flying Squirrel in place of Sonic the Hedgehog, the game's usual protagonist. The creator of the hack is Fabricechaotix.Ray the Flying Squirrel has a air glide move similar to Knuckles but the air glide does no damage when touching enemies. The air glide also does not stop when touching walls. Unlike many Sonic 1 hacks there is no spin dash move.

Red Hot Sonic 2 is a hack of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (16-bit) by redhotsonic. It was his first hack.Started in early 2004, this hack featured two fan characters: Red Hot Sonic and Jet Pack Tails. Several versions were released (0.50, 0.60, 0.70, 0.80, and then finally 0.90). The hack started off bad (especially the palettes) but became more developed over time.

Rent-A-Hero is an action role-playing video game series released by Sega for the Mega Drive console in 1991 with a large emphasis on humor. The game features the same graphic engine previously used in the development of Phantasy Star III. However, Rent-A-Hero has an unusual innovation for the genre. Instead of using standard turn-based battles, fights are in a similar format to 2D fighting games.

In Japan it was known as The Super Shinobi. The debut of the ninja on the Sega Mega Drive console, The Revenge of Shinobi was widely praised at the time of its release and long one of the most popular games on the Mega Drive and is still regarded as the best entry in the series by many. Its soundtrack was written by acclaimed composer Yuzo Koshiro.
